Sacramental Programs

Confirmation

• A candidate must be baptized and have received First Eucharist (Communion) & Reconciliation.
• Normally has had two consecutive years of religious instruction either in Religious Formation Programs or the Catholic School just prior to receiving the sacrament.
• Attends Sunday Mass with their faith community.
• Will select a sponsor (a person who is a full member of the Catholic Church and will be a good model of the faith).
• Expected to complete Confirmation Lessons and participate in all Religious Formation classes.
• Expected to do research on their saint (whose name they have chosen)
• Expected to receive Sacrament of Reconciliation in preparation for Confirmation
• Expected to do a minimum of 10 entries in their service journals, indicating service to their family, school, church, community.
• Expected to do a retreat in preparation to receive Confirmation
• Expected to write a letter of request to the Bishop.
• Required to have an interview with a pastoral staff person to determine if the candidate is adequately prepared.
