RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults)

What is it?

The R.C.I.A. at Christ the Good Shepherd Parish is the process by which adults seeking Baptism and full initiation (Confirmation and Eucharist) enter into the Catholic Church. There are four stages to the process, and these are separated by three different rites.

The R.C.I.A. process at Good Shepherd is a "school-year" model with the Inquiry period beginning in September. During the course of nine to ten months, inquirers will work with the R.C.I.A Team and a sponsor from the parish to prepare for Baptism and full initiation into the Church. Those wishing to join the process after September are still welcome to join the group.

How do I join?

If you would like to become a member of the Catholic faith or have questions about joining the Church, then R.C.I.A. is for you! Please call the Parish Office at 313-928-1324.

Sponsors

The R.C.I.A. Team is always looking for sponsors to walk with the men and women in R.C.I.A. on their faith journeys. You need not be a theologian in the Catholic faith to be a sponsor! You only need be willing to share your faith with one of the newest members of our parish community. If you are interested in being an R.C.I.A. sponsor, please call the Parish Office.
