Crop Walk
Crop Walk is an annual event to raise funds for worldwide efforts
to reduce hunger. Twenty five percent of the funds raised stay within the local
community.
The Downriver CROP walk is one of about two thousand walks organized around
the country. It is an ecumenical event hosted on a rotational basis by a variety
of churches in the Downriver community.
In 2003 approximately 13 walkers from our parish raised about $1,900 towards
reducing world hunger. Our area Crop walk raised approximately $46,000
($11,500 of which was designated for local efforts to provide hunger relief.)
Many parishioners choose to make the Downriver CROP walk a family event.
The date for this year is Sunday, April 30, 2006 & St. Patrick Catholic Church in Wyandotte
will be the hosting parish again this year. Registration begins at 1:45 p.m. and the walk begins at 2:30 p.m.
